Protestantism has a thousand separate streams but a Protestant only lives in one pure stream of Protestantism at a time.
The Catholic is but one big church but has a thousand subtly variant streams within itself.
Attending the only catholic parish in an area, one is forced to interact with fellow catholics of wildly varing classes, educational levels, ethnicities and skin colour --- but attend one of several dozen protestant churches in that same parish catchment area and you can be assured to see only people like yourself - in educational attainment, income, skin colour, ethnicity.
Its paradox ----- but one easy to understand...
