Monolithicity never ever has allies and friends - only consumables, enemies... or sycophants

Monolithic modernity (Go-It-Alone) believes that for every question and problem there is one only completely right answer and solution - a solution and answer that can be easily found and easily applied.

The rest of humanity must either agree completely - become sycophants - or become total enemies.

Polylithic modernity diffidently sees every 'answer' and 'solution' as highly tentative and provisional (time & place contingent) and is always willing to hear out second, third, fourth, et al opinions to the contrary.

It actively seeks out critics and opponents, but as cantankerous allies not lick boot sycophants.

For only through the tough 'to and fro' of vigorous democratic debate does it believe that a momentary 'truth' emerge long enough to at least suggest a tentative way forward.

It seeks the biggest of all Big Tents, the biggest Ministry of All the Talents.

For it sees some problems as so big that only the ideas and proposals of all humanity can give us hope of finding workable solutions in time to invert disaster...
