Trump's Bush : wartime OSRD no haven to foreign born

This despite the fact that The American Bomb, like America itself, was only built by leavening the workman-like competency of the the native born with  the raw genius of the foreign born.

WWII's OSRD, the American - nay Allies - main war science agency, was staffed almost exclusively by the native born American, though science was an area of strength for America's foreign born.

I can't think of a single notable figure from the OSRD who was foreign born.

And yes I  am thinking of the OSRD's Atomic Bomb team too.

There the hundreds of  foreign born scientists needed to actually finish that job right were definitely on tap not on top - distrusted so much that an elaborate security system was built up to keep tabs on them.

But Vannevar Bush didn't talk much about his agency's hand in killing a few hundred thousand women and children of  yellow skin --- he liked to claim ("lie") that his agency had brought us the life-saving wonders of penicillin.

Actually the OSRD did its darned best to stall and limit the wartime use of the miracle lifesaver - and then backed the wrong (synthetic) penicillin horse.

The team that actually delivered wartime penicillin - the same naturally grown penicillin that still forms the basement for almost all of today's antibiotics - was led by a large number of foreign born immigrants.

Among them : from Germany, John L Smith and Karl Meyer, from Jugoslavia Milislav Demerec, from Canada Martin Henry Dawson.

Coincidence that Vannevar Bush's OSRD ignored the technological solution pushed by the foreigners ?

I don't think so.

Major scientific and technological advances will continue to be made between 2017 and 2021, the term of  president-elect Donald Trump.

But many won't be made in America as his immigrant-hostile views will divert much of  the two hundred year old stream of scientific and technological cum entrepreneurial talent flowing into the US into more welcoming nations.

America was actually never more mediocre, intellectually, than during Trump's golden age of the Fifties when the closing of the gates to talented pushy genius young immigrants in the 1920s finally started hitting home.

America's recent rise up to once again the leading nation for science and technology can be accounted for by the re-opening of the American front door to talented foreigners from all over the world since 1965.

Trump's victory will only  "MAKE AMERICA MEDIOCRE AGAIN"....
